A devoted mother and grandmother who never hesitated to remind her loved ones and friends to "keep smiling," Carol C. Lind, 75, of Oshkosh passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Wednesday, March 8, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.

The daughter of Rufus and MaDonna Casebolt, Carol was born in Dougherty, Iowa on December 21, 1941. She grew up and started a family in rural northern Iowa before settling in Berlin, Wisconsin with her four young children in the 1960s.

Marrying the late James Fox in 1968, Carol welcomed the arrival of three more children while residing in the community that she would call home for most of her life.

While raising the family and maintaining the household remained her priority over the ensuing years, Carol also dedicated herself to becoming a highly prominent and successful member of the Berlin business community. Running the business with her husband out of their Spring Street home, Carol eventually relocated Fox Realty to downtown Berlin, earning numerous distinctions and awards throughout her career as a real estate agent.

She and the father of their three youngest children eventually went their separate ways, but Carol rediscovered love and happiness when she met her soulmate, Donald Lind, whom she married on August 14, 1988, in a ceremony enjoyed by family and friends in Oshkosh. The two spent several years turning their rural Berlin house into a beautiful home, relishing in Don's rare moments away from his drilling and blasting business to share in their love of travel, antiquing and more.

Although remaining at the home that brought her so much happiness eventually became unmanageable following Don's untimely death in 1999, Carol once again found happiness as a well-loved member of the tight-knit Oshkosh neighborhood that served as her home during her final years.

Carol made many wonderful friends over that time, many of whom regularly visited during her time of illness, both at home and during her final days in the hospital.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; siblings Mary Casebolt and Edward Casebolt; husbands Donald Lind and James Fox; daughters Michelle Simmons and Kellie Fox; son Shannon Fox; granddaughter Bobbi Jo Lynk Waters; and other beloved family members and friends.

She is survived by her children, David Lynk and Robert Lynk, both of Oshkosh; Pat Reser of Hayward; and Jason (Tammie) Fox of Winneconne.

Also surviving are Carol's grandchildren, Eric Lynk; Jessi (Chad) Martin of Berlin; Dallas (Rachel) Reinert of Germantown; Derek Reser of Hayward; Brittani Bickels of Omaha, Nebraska; Hunter Boeck of Redgranite; and Lilianna, Alexis, Everett and Layne Fox of Winneconne; and great-grandchildren Jacob and Kade Martin of Berlin, and Grant Reinert of Germantown.

The family wishes to extend its sincerest gratitude to Dr. Karen Gremminger and all the nurses and medical personnel who provided loving care and emotional support to Carol throughout her illness and in her final hours.

As per Carol's wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Inurnment will take place at St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Berlin at a date to be determined.

"You are gone, but not forgotten.
You're together again with those you once lost, glancing down upon those left behind, dancing 'neath the Eiffel tower until the time has come for us to meet again.
Only time is what separates us now.
You will never be forgotten, and forever in our hearts you will stay,
Until we meet again someday, a picture is worth a thousand words, and many more in memories.

We will always love you, today, tomorrow and forevermore, to the moon and back."
