MARY EILEEN BECK, 91, of rural Perrysville, died Monday evening, March 20, 2017 at her home after a short illness.

Mrs. Beck was born September 16, 1925 on her Richland county farm where she continued to live most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Raymond O. and Rosemary (Wilson) Zimmerman. Mrs. Beck was a 1943 graduate of Lucas High School and a member of Perrysville Baptist Church where she was the custodian for 15 years.

In addition she had worked for the Ohio Public Service at Melco, Gretzinger’s Market in Perrysville and for 15 years in the cafeteria at Mansfield Plumbing Products.

On October 5, 1947 she married Eugene A. Beck and he died August 17, 1968.

She will be remembered by her family for always wearing a sweater, no matter the temperature; for dodging any camera in her presence; for her warm smile; for her delicious Cherry Delight; for singing in her church choir; for her country farmhouse and the sanctuary it offered to countless cats over the years; for the fun the grandkids had popping her “Touch Me Not” plants in the backyard; for loving her grandchildren’s art no matter how it turned out and for keeping it for decades; for the countless hours spent with her swinging on her front porch, many times singing “The Ants Go Marching;” and for how thankful she was for any time she got to spend with her family.

She will be as deeply missed as she was dearly loved.

She is survived by four sons: Raymond (Betty) Beck of Millersburg, Charles (Carlene) Beck of Perrysville, Paul (Sarah) Beck of Kensington, Maryland and Scott (Arezo) Beck of Columbus; one daughter, Rosemary Beck of Columbus; 10 grandchildren: Aaron Beck, Wendy (Don Wright) Martin, Christina (Chris) Hoover, Michael Coe, Adam (Nikki) Beck, Lorisa (Todd) Wolfe, Melissa Beck, Jennifer Beck, Lauren Beck and Walt Beck; 11 great-grandchildren: Delaney Martin, Kimberly, Jonathon, and Makayla Hoover; Shelby, Isabella and Sophia Beck; Aubrey Gillespie, Nathan and Landan Wolfe and Hannah Beck.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter-in-law, Diane Beck and two infant grandchildren, Sydney Faith Beck and Ava Mari Beck.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home, Loudonville with Rev. Howard Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Perrysville.

Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. in Lindsey Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to Perrysville Baptist Church, c/o Naomi Smart, 172 E. Third Street, Perrysville, Ohio, 44864.
