James B. Burge, Jr., "Poppy", age 84 of Gallatin, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017. Funeral Service will be Thursday, March 23rd at 12 noon from the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home, with Pastor John McLendon officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 22nd from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 23rd from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will follow at Sumner Memorial Gardens, with Ben Harris, Matt Barlow, Chris Alexander, Lynn Williams, and Ray Tucker serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Hunter Barlow, Larry Tubbs, Fred Latham, Dan Shaw, and Jimmy Overton.

Mr. Burge was born February 26, 1933 in Davidson County, to the late James B. Burge, Sr. and Blanche Farmer Burge Bennett. He is survived by wife of 59 years, Nancy Chambers Burge of Gallatin; daughters, Darlene Lyle of Gallatin and Amy Harris (Ben) of Gallatin; half-brother, Hoyt Burge of Lebanon; sister, Nancy Gayle Brown of Gallatin; 3 grandchildren, Jamie Barlow (Matt), Ashley Lyle, and Hollie Alexander (Chris); and 2 great grandchildren, Hunter Barlow and River Barlow.

Mr. Burge served our country in the Navy during the Korean Conflict on the USS Iowa; he retired from DuPont; and was an avid fisherman and Tennessee Titan’s Fan. Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com. Family Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
