Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 23 at Twin Oaks Memorial Park for Virginia Lee Peyton of Artesia.

Mrs. Peyton, 86, passed away on March 20, 2017 at Artesia General Hospital.

Tim Singleton will officiate at the service. Pallbearers are all of her grandsons.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday at Terpening & Son Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Virginia was born on October 24, 1930 in Galatia, Illinois; the daughter of Clyde and Grace (Dooley) Rice. On October 7, 1948 she married Billy Peyton in Henderson, Kentucky. They came to Artesia in 1958 from Harrisburg, Illinois.

She was a housewife who enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her husband Billy, son Randy Peyton and granddaughter Callie Callaway.

Survivors include her sons Kenneth Peyton and his wife Margaret of Artesia and Lonnie Peyton and his wife Diane of Artesia; daughters Brenda Montgomery and husband Tommy of Artesia and Beth Dowell and husband Stephen of Artesia; 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
