She was born in Waynesboro, Pa., on Oct. 1, 1947, the daughter of Ilene Hahn Barkdoll and the late Edward Gehr Barkdoll.
She graduated from Smithsburg High School in 1965. She was briefly employed with Regency in Waynesboro prior to becoming a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a member of Ringgold Church of Christ in Hagerstown, Md.
In addition to her mother, Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ronald Swope; son, Ryan Swope and wife, Kimberly, and their children, Emma and Charlotte; son, Joshua Swope and wife, Casey, and their children, Peyton and Luke; a sister, Sharon Peiffer and husband, Denny; a brother, David Barkdoll and wife, Judy; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Linda was a kind woman who loved reading, shopping, spending time with family and vacationing at Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Family would like to welcome friends to a visitation Wednesday evening, March 22, from 6 to 8 p.m. at J.L. Davis Funeral Home, 12525 Bradbury Ave., Smithsburg, as well as Thursday morning, March 23, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Ringgold Church of Christ, 14420 Barkdoll Road, Hagerstown. Services will be led by Pastor Don Conley and begin at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at Ringgold Cemetery. Family will celebrate her life with a small gathering at Ringgold Church of Christ immediately following services.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Ringgold Church of Christ in her honor.
