He was employed by Horn Construction as a framer until he became a general building contractor and started his own business, Black Construction, with his brother John.
Upon retirement he moved to his favorite place, South Lake Tahoe.
In his early years he loved camping and Honda riding at Lake Don Pedro. His passion was the Black Jack Tables at Harrah's, then the 21 tournaments at the Lakeside Inn in South Lake Tahoe.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Roena Black; son, Jim Black; daughters, Marilyn Oostema, Becky Penosa and Barbara Navarre; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grand children.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at the Free Will Baptist Church, 225 E. Orangeburg, Modesto.
Private inurnment will be held at the Ceres Memorial Cemetery.
