Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Burdette Burton, 85, of Louisiana, Missouri will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 23rd at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana, Missouri. The Rev. Robert Cook assisted by The Rev. Chuck Clark will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, November 22nd at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Louisiana with Military Honors conducted by members of American Legion Post 370.

Mr. Burton passed away Friday, November 20, 2009 at his home in Louisiana. He was born February 5, 1924 in Fayette, Missouri to Homer and Effie May Spencer Burton.

He married Marie Robertson August 31, 1947 at Eolia, Missouri and she survives. Other survivors include one son, Paul Burton (Linda) of Louisiana, Missouri, Two grandchildren; Jeremiah Burton (Roxanne) of Louisiana, Missouri and Michelle Walsh (John) of Bixby, Oklahoma, Four great-grandchildren, Patrick Walsh, Riley Walsh, Christian Walsh and Jasmine Burton, One brother, Charles Burton of Kansas City, Missouri, Two sisters, Doris Scherder of Bowling Green, Missouri and Loraine Nichols of Kansas City, Missouri and Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Orville Burton.     

Ernest had been employed as an Operator for Hercules Chemical Company in Louisiana, Missouri for 31 years, retiring in 1985.

He was a veteran serving with the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the House of Prayer Church in Kinderhook, Illinois. He was a man of Honor, Integrity who loved to fish the Mississippi river, Deer hunt and spend time with his family. He was an amazing Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather who gave of himself unconditionally, who left his family with many precious memories. We love our “Poppy” and he will be greatly missed.       Honorary pallbearers are; Russell Hobkirk, Wiley Trower, Dan Leemon, Russell Ransdell and Joe Henderson. Active pallbearers are; Jeremiah Burton, Denny Cleeton, Stan White, Earl Best, Jr., Keith Scherder and Kenneth Davis.
