Joy married Frank James Riley Sr. on Nov. 10, 1936. Joy and Frank had a dairy farm, where they raised and milked cattle. They also had a fruit stand where they sold fresh vegetables and watermelons. Years later, Joy worked at the State Hospital in San Antonio and in cafeteria services for the Floresville Independent School District. Joy loved to sew, quilt, bake, garden, play card games, and do puzzles. She also loved her flowers, pets, and especially being with her family. Her favorite holiday was Christmas; no matter what, she always made sure that all her family had something under the tree and plenty to eat. She was the best mother and "Meemaw" that you could ever have and will truly be missed, said her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank James Riley Sr.; her sisters, Murrell Ham, Lenara Trapp, and an infant sister; brothers (twins) Byron and Vyron Freeman; daughterin law Annie L. Kidd Riley (spouse of John A. Riley); grandson Richard A. Taylor Jr.; and a granddaughter, Jo Annette Gimble Sweeney.

Joy is survived by her sons, John A. Riley of Sutherland Springs and Frank James Riley Jr. and wife Elaine of Stockdale; daughters Jessie Mae Tatum and husband Joe of Sutherland Springs and Lorena Jarzombek and husband Eugene of Floresville; ex-son-in-law Richard A. Taylor Sr. of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; 14 great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
