Karen Jo Rose, age 73, formerly of Sweetser, passed away unexpectedly with her husband, Jerry, and son, Mark, by her side on March 17, 2017, in Sarasota, Florida, where they have resided for the last 15 years.

She was born Nov. 12, 1944, to Marvin and Elizabeth (Stevens) Buroker. She married Jerry Rose on May 22, 1971.
After graduating from Oak Hill High School in 1961, she worked several years at First National Bank in Marion, and completed college courses in banking.

Karen’s health had failed for several years, but she loved spending time with family. She also enjoyed reading.
She is survived by mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Buroker (Stevens), Sweetser; brother, Ottis (Karen) Buroker, Marion; sister-in-law, Carol Spangler, Tennessee; two stepchildren; aunt, Juanita Stevens, Wabash; nephew, Andrew (Sara) Buroker and family, Fairmount; cousins, Debbie (Norman) McFarland, Converse, Steve (Mary Ellen) Smith, Raymond Smith, Larry (Nancy) Smith, Dennis (Aimee) Smith, all of Gas City, Jack (Jamie) Smith, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Marvin, and cousin, Patricia Zehr.

Interment will be at a later date.
