Anthony David "Tony" Franklin, 44, of Clays Mill Road in Scottsburg, died Saturday, January 27, 2007 due to a auto accident.
He was born in Halifax County on November 10, 1962, the son of David B. Franklin and Priscilla W. Franklin. Mr. Franklin was a sales engineer with Moore's Electrical and Mechanical and was a member of Riverview Racing.
In addition to his mother and father, Mr. Franklin is survived by a daughter, Cathryn Leigh "Katie" Franklin of Scottsburg; one sister, Amanda Franklin Penzer and husband Chris of Summerfield, N.C.; his grandmother, Eloise S. Franklin of South Boston; a nephew, Hunter Penzer; a niece, Taylor Penzer; his former wife Paula Franklin of Richmond; special friend Lisa Wallace; and a number of loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Arther Clyde and Mildred Talbott Warren and grandfather Lloyd Belt Franklin.
Funeral services for Mr. Franklin will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday,January 30, 2007, with services at the McCanless Memorial United Methodist Church. The Revs. Phil Showers and Don Bryant will officiate. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
The family requests that memorials be made to Katie's Educational Fund, 1223 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston, Va., 24592.
Visitation will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Brooks Funeral Home and other time at the home of his parents, 2701 Fernwick Dr., South Boston.
