Henry Munroe Jr. was born in Pembroke, 11 June 1749, the son of Henry Munroe Sr. and Hannah Josselyn. He was baptized in the First Congregational Church of Pembroke by Rev. Daniel Lewis on 16 July 1749.

Henry Munroe Jr. served in the Revolutionary War as a private and corporal from 1775-1783.
