Dennis Neill, 66, passed away after a long fight with brain cancer on Sunday March 5, 2017 at his home in Ketchikan, Alaska. Burial is planned at Salem Cemetery outside Modena, MO on Thursday March 16, 2017 at 1 PM.

Dennis was born on February 20, 1951 in rural Mercer County, Missouri to Hubert Dwight and Betty (Dorland) Neill. He graduated from Trenton High School in Trenton, MO in 1969. From 1970 to 1974 he attended college in Columbia, MO and graduated from Ambassador College, Pasadena in 1974. He worked for three divisions of the USDA Forest Service including Agricultural Protection, Research, and National Forest Systems. He lived and worked in Washington, D.C., Oregon, Colorado, South Dakota, North Dakota, and finally Alaska. He traveled to many states in the west on a Type 1 firefighting team, including the 1988 Yellowstone Fires.

He loved hunting and fishing, camping and hiking and being outdoors with family and friends. He was a life member of the NRA, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Mule Deer Foundation.

Dennis married Chris Heath and had two girls, Erin Elessa and Heather Megan. He is survived by Erin Neill Williams and her husband Glen Williams of Denver, Colorado, and Heather Megan Neill of Lakewood, Colorado. He is also survived by grandson, Taharqua “Taj” Williams and granddaughter Zora Williams. Other surviving relatives include his mother, Betty Neill of Trenton, older brother, Kenneth Neill, of Bixby, Oklahoma, his current spouse, Faith L. Duncan, of Ketchikan, Alaska and three nephews, Aaron, Alan, and Brandon Neill, and one niece, Bobbi Neill.

He is preceded in death by his father, Hubert Dwight Neill.
