Mary Ann attended and graduated from Durham County Schools. After high school, she graduated from an Art Institute in Raleigh where she had received a scholarship.
Mary Ann was previously employed as a sales associate for Wal-Mart in Hillsborough for nineteen years. Prior to her employment at Wal-Mart, she was a homemaker and previously employed at Duke University and BC Remedy Company.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Jennifer Hall, of Mebane and two grandchildren Christian Jordan Hall and Taylor Paige Hall, her sister Rachel Garrett of Orlando, Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ann has been an avid Duke Blue Devils fan since 1948. She never missed an opportunity to watch her team play. Some of her favorite pastimes and hobbies included painting beautiful pictures, eating her favorite desserts, watching Hallmark movies, visiting with her friends and family, and watching basketball games with Jordan.
The family will receive friends at Pleasant Green United Methodist Church, 3005 Pleasant Green Road in Durham Wednesday 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Green United Methodist Church. Officiating the service will be her nephew, Elder Ed Terry. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Green United Methodist Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Joey Hall, Danny Johnson, Charles Mincey, Nick Mincey, David Terry, Matt Terry, Jordan Hall and Al Page.
During Mary Ann’s last few years of declining health, she greatly appreciated all the help, support, visits, and calls from her niece Karen Johnson, best friend Bea Elliott, family members and friends. The family would also like to thank Pruitt Health Hospice for their help and support.
