Blue Funeral Home Frank Thompson Sep 12th, 1920 - Mar 17th, 2017 Marion-Frank Thompson, 96, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2017 at Parkway Manor. Frank was born on September 12, 1920 in Mt. Vernon to Henry and Lillie (Whitlock) Thompson. He married Donna Stullken on August 21, 1943 in St. Louis. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2004. Frank served in the U.S. Navy as a PBY pilot in WWII flying with the Blackcats Squadron in the South Pacific. He was a member of 1st United Methodist Church and taught for over 50 years. Survivors include: Son-Douglas S. and Jeralyn Thompson of Ballwin, MO Daughter-Patricia Kay and Brian Sanders of Florissant, MO Grandchildren: Brett and Holly Sanders Ross Sanders Jacqueline and Travis Foley Gina and Dennis Moreland Jennifer and Khris Stillman 11 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Visitation will be on Friday from 10am until the time of service. A graveside service will also be held on Friday at 3pm at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dix with Military Rites being performed by the American Legion Post 141 of Mt. Vernon with assistance from the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. Memorial donations are suggested to DAV or the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court/ Marion, IL 62959.
