Rollin Brooks, 86, of North Canton and formerly of Elyria, died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, at Aultman Health Foundation in Canton after a short illness. Born in Elyria, he had lived in Lorain County most of his life. Mr. Brooks was a 1938 graduate of North Ridgeville High School and was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked as a railroader for 21 years with New York Central Railroad and had also worked with the Ridge Tool Co., Elyria, as a stationary steam fireman for 18 years, retiring in 1983. He was a charter member of East Broad Street Church of Christ, Elyria, and served as chairman of the board of trustees for 40 years. He was a church elder, taught adult Bible class and served as business agent for the church for 40 years. He enjoyed reading. Survivors include daughters Sharon G. Carson of Canton, Mary Ann Ferris of Hanford, Calif., and Alma Jean Brooks of North Canton; a son, Wayne Brooks of North Canton; five grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Della Mae (nee Norris) Brooks, in 1999; and a son, Glen Rollin Brooks, in 2006. Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Dicken Funeral Home, 323 Middle Ave., Elyria, where services will be 7 p.m. Saturday. Mr. Steve McCall of East Broad Street Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
