Mrs. Odessa Smith, age 98, of 60 Smith Circle, Fountain Inn, died Thursday, March 16, 2017 at the Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Laurens County, a daughter of the late Jim Putman and Callie Bailey Putman and wife of the late Maydee Smith, she was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church where she served in many capacities.

She is survived by four sons, Rev. Cleo Smith, Heyward Smith, Lee Willis Smith and Perry Smith all of Fountain Inn; five daughters, Odella Ann Griffin of Mauldin, Quinella White, Katherine Barksdale, Lois S. Davis all of Fountain Inn and Minister Jacqueline Spurgeon of Simpsonville; two brothers, Erskine Putman and Nonie Putman of Detroit, MI; one sister, Callie Seaton of Detroit, Michigan; thirty-three grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren and nineteen great, great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, with Dr. Phillip Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Bethlehem Baptist Church.
