Mrs. E. D. Muhall(sic) Expires on the C. & N-W. Tracks
Over Fatigued and Excited, the Victim of Heart Disease Succumbs--So Said the Jury
While coming from the Youngstown mine location to her home on Superior avenue, Mrs. E. D Munhall dropped dead on the C. & N-W. railway track, between the highway and railroad bridges, near the falls, on Wednesday evening about 6:30 o'clock. Mrs. Munhall had spent the day with the family of John Larson and was returning home in company with Mesdames Dahl, Peterson and Lundgren. The weather had been intensely warm and she was greatly fatigued, being a sufferer from obesity, but was, otherwise, apparently in the best of health and spirits. When the falls were reached the attention of the little party was attracted by a fierce conflict between two dogs near the track. Mrs. Munhall attempted to separate the angry canines and in doing so became greatly excited. Suddenly she sank to the ground and gasped "My God; I'm gone!" These were he last words. She died a moment afterward. Dr. Darling viewed the remains shortly afterward and pronounced the disease from which she died valvular disease of the heart. He had treated her for a heart trouble only a few weeks before. An inquest was held and a verdict returned, attributing her death to heard disease.
The remains were interred in the Crystal Falls cemetery yesterday morning. Mr. Munhall's father, a resident of lower Wisconsin, was in attendance. The diseased leaves property in real estate and personal possessions to the amount of about $2,000, all of which goes to her six-year-old son. Mr. D. C. Lockwood was appointed guardian for the orphan, the father having died about four years ago. Mrs. Munhall was forty-nine years of age. Although gruff and uncultured in the American ways, she was the possessor of a charitable disposition and had many friends among her native element, the Scandinavians.
