Funeral services were held March 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Choteau with Rev. Kris A. Nyman, pastor, officiating. She died at Cascade Convalescent Nursing Home in Great Falls. Daughter of Frank and Carolina (Gustafson) Hedlund. Emma grew up and attended schools in Carlos and in 1920 moved to Pittsburg, Pa., where she worked until her marriage to Harry Alvin Swanson on March 16, 1927 at Alexandria, Minn. They made their home on a farm near Pendroy until retirement in 1951 when they moved to Choteau. Her husband died Nov. 24, 1966 and in 1972 she became one of the first residents of Skyline Lodge in Choteau. In 1986, she moved to Cascade Convalescent Nursing Home at Great Falls. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Choteau. She was known for her skills in culinary arts as a hobby.

Preceded in death by her husband; son, Donald Alvin Swanson; three brothers, Oscar, Albert and Richard Hedlund; six sisters, Annie Engstrand, Hilda Carlson, Agnes Carlson, Clara Ostrem, Minnie Witmore and Ida Peterson. Survivors include two sons, Weldon A. Swanson of Boise, Idaho and Clifton H.
