Mrs. Phoebe Hurst, aged 74 years, and for 18 years a resident of Rock Island, died last evening at the home of William Jackson, 824 Twentieth street. She was the mother of Mrs. William P. Barth, who with her husband, also resides at the Jackson home. Mrs. Hurst had been ailing four years and last December suffered an attack of bronchial pneumonia, which left her in a weakened condition, and to which she finally succumbed.
Phoebe Reynolds was born June 20, 1846, in Wales, and came to this country soon after her marriage to James Hurst, April 29, 1881. She resided for several years in Moline after the death of her husband. She was a member of the Episcopal church, which she faithfully attended until unable to do so because of failing health.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Fannie Jones, in England, and her duaghter, Mrs. W. P. Barth of Rock Island.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Jackson residence. Interment will be in Chippiannock cemetery. It is requested that no flowers be sent.
