Mr. Cunningham was born November 12,1891, in Seatonville, IL, the son of Patrick and Mary Baines Cunningham. He came to Carlinville in 1921 to work at the Berry Mine and later the Schoper Mine at South Standard. He retired in 1963 after working at the Little Dog Mine at Gillespie since 1930.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the BPOE.
On May 28, 1921, he married Ercie Flood in Peoria. She preceded him in death on June 26, 1966.
He leaves a son, J.P. Cunningham, Nashville, TN;
two daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Sheila) Needham of Peoria, and Mrs. Kenneth (Jane) Alberico of Carlinville; 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Mary Stedmen of Peoria.
