Suffolk – Beverly Franklin Byrd, 76, passed away March 30, 2013. Born November 11, 1936, in Nansemond County, VA, he was a son of the late J. Presley and Dorothy Lamb Byrd and predeceased by two sisters, Janie B. Aston and Rachel B. Brinkley. He attended Cypress Elementary School, Whaleyville High School and Paul D. Camp Community College. He retired in 1995 with 37 ½ years of service as a Machine Operator in Roll Finishing Department. Mr. Byrd enjoyed his antique cars, camping, building wood crafts, model railroading, vintage cars, and vintage model cars. He was a long time and faithful member of South Quay Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory are three daughters, Teresa B. McCaskey and her husband, Ray, of Carrsville, Sharon McCrickard and her husband, Sam, of Florida, and Shelia Marques and her husband, Joe, of Texas; one son, Carl Glenn Byrd of Richmond, VA; one brother, J. P. Byrd and his wife, Elouise, of Gatesville, NC; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday, April 1, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. John Watson and Rev. Tom Holland officiating. Following the funeral there will be a homegoing reception at South Quay Baptist Church.
