Matthew W. "Matt" Ross, age 87, of Waldwick, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Mineral Point Care Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in the Waldwick area on January 28, 1919, the son of William P. and Zella (Rodda) Ross. He married Irene Ferrell on January 27, 1940 at the Waldwick Parsonage. Matt lived and raised his family in Waldwick until moving to Mineral Point in 2002. He served in the military during World War II and was a lifelong member of the Mineral Point American Legion Post No 170. Matt was a loved and respected member of the Mineral Point business community starting Ross Soil and Feed Service in 1955. Upon his retirement in 1981, Matt and Irene enjoyed many years of traveling and living life to its fullest.
Matt is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene; his daughter, Connie (David) Whitson, of La Quinta, California; his son, Larry (Joanne) Ross, of Mineral Point; three grandchildren, Cory (Tina) Ross, Jamey (Lynn) Ross and Danielle (Ryan) Lindsey; seven great grandchildren, Trevor, Peyton and Jaxson Ross, Delaney and Alex Ross, and Kyla and Ross Lindsey. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Lyle and Jack Ross, and his sister, Verle White.
