Rita M. Daniels, 85 years old, of Dunkirk, New York, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Buffalo General Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Portland, New York on September 12, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Leo and Helen Wesolowski Voss. She resided in this area her entire life. She was a homemaker who previously worked as a seamstress at M. Wile and a waitress at the former College Inn restaurant. She was a member of BMA St. Hyacinth’s Church. She enjoyed coin detecting.
Surviving are two daughters, Debbie Daniels and Linda (Richard) Earle, both of Dunkirk; two sons, David (Brenda) Daniels of Pomfret and Michael Daniels of Dunkirk; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Carlton, David Daniels Jr., Mark Daniels, Amanda Niebel, Donna Daniels, Brenda Daniels and Michelle Meecham; nine great-grandchildren, Markus Cardona, Isabelle Daniels, Annie Bruce, Jillian Bruce, Hayley Carlton, Ryder Carlton, Sydney Daniels, Alex Daniels and Blake Daniels. One sister, Mrs. Delores Lack of Dunkirk; and a brother, James Voss of Chicago, Illinois also survive.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband Albert Daniels; her son Timothy Daniels; her granddaughter Kelly Daniels; five sisters, Louise Rasmus, Phyllis Balzer, Evelyn Lanski, Marie Rettig and Elaine Voss; and three brothers, Chester Voss, Walter Voss and David Voss.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, March 18, 2017 at 9:15 from the Newman Funeral Home, Inc. and at 10 o’clock at BMA St. Hyacinth’s Church with Father Jan Trella officiating. Interment will follow in St. Hyacinth’s Cemetery. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Friday, March 17.
