She was born June 4th 1929 at the Old Atkinson Family Homestead in Buckmanville (Upper Makefield Twp.) Bucks County. The Homestead was in her family for many generations. She was the only daughter of the late Harry Frankenfield Atkinson, Sr. and Pearl Ethel (Kirk) Atkinson.
She was raised in Buckmanville, Holland and Newtown. All located in Bucks County. She was a 1947 graduate of the former Newtown High School. (Now known as Council Rock High School)
On December 10th 1949 in the Newtown Presbyterian Church, she married her late husband George Franklin Mace. They were married for 53 years, until he passed away on February 7th 2003.
Dorothy enjoyed many things, she also loved having family get-togethers at her home, which were held several times a year for many years. She also helped her husband with his radiator repair business in Penns Park.
Dorothy was a strong Christian. She had previously been a longtime member of Penns Park United Methodist Church. Most recently she had been a member of Solebury United Methodist Church, she had also attended the Anchor Presbyterian Church in Wrightstown. She was the loving mother of Jeannette R. Cooper wife of Robert D. Cooper, Jr. and Lynn Winton (Tim Tumminello). She was the loving "Mom-Mom" to her three grandchildren, Rebecca L. and her husband J. Todd Delp, Daniel G. Cooper and his wife Shari and Benjamin A. Cooper. She was the loving great grandmother to her six great grandchildren, Kaitlyn R. Delp and her fiance' Zach Miller, Emma G. Fisher and her husband Nate, Jacob A. Delp, Micah T. Delp, Iris M. Cooper and Franklin R. Cooper. She was also expecting her 7th great grandchild. She is also survived by her brother Paul R. Atkinson, Sr. and his wife Barbara, her sister in law Eleanor Atkinson, as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many friends. Besides her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by her youngest granddaughter Natalie A. Harton in 2015, her oldest brother Harry F. Atkinson, Jr. in 2013, and her sister in law Betty L. (Messner) Atkinson in 1969.
Relatives and friends are invited to Dorothy's Life Celebration on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 10 to 12 Noon and to her funeral service at 12 Noon at the Swartz/Givnish Funeral Home, 323 Washington Ave, Newtown, PA. Interment will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
