FRANKLIN, KS - Steven D. Snider, 69, passed from this on March 16, 2017. Steven was born to Rev. Jess Snider and Evelyn R. Holden Snider in Joplin, Missouri on August 12, 1947.
Steve was a 1965 graduate of Noel, MO High School. He attended Central Bible College in Springfield, MO. He married Marilyn Miles on July 11, 1969 in Pittsburg, KS.
Steve always tried to exhibit a good work ethic. He worked at Eagle Picher, Joplin, MO, McNally Manufacturing, Pittsburg, KS for 20 years, Mid-America Pipe, Scammon, KS for 2 years, and PITSCO Education in Pittsburg, KS as a Customer Service Tech Support for 25 years.
Steve became a follower of Christ at the age of 9. He had a passion for service to the Church. He served in many positions in the Churches he attended. He also pastored the Church of New Beginnings in Pittsburg for 4 years.
He and his family are charter members of Family Life Assembly of God Church (FLAG), Pittsburg, He has served in many positions at FLAG. Steve mentored elementary-age boys each Wednesday evening for over 10 years. He was a stabilizing presence on the Church Board as well as the head usher greeting and serving all.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the home, his children Michelle Hensley (Mike), Franklin, Veronica Snider, Pittsburg, Shawn Snider (Sherise), Pittsburg, and Timothy Snider of the home and grandchildren Jesse Snider (Mercedes), Seth Snider, Ethan Snider, Zachary Thomas, Emily Hensley, Madeline Snider, Thomas Snider, Levi Snider, Logan Geiger, Anthony Thomas and soon to be born Stevie Snider. He is also survived by his sister Gayla Shaffer, Houston, TX, and his Aunts Marilyn West (Don) and Dorothy Crowder (Harry). He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Jess and Evelyn Snider and his grandparents.
A celebration of Steve's life will be held at Family Life Assembly of God Church, 1234 North Rouse, Pittsburg, KS on Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the FLAG Church Building Fund.
