Son of now departed William Homer and Channie Marbury Hancock of Leeds, he united with Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist as a lad and graduated Moton High School in 1961.
Joe's passion was automobiles, as he was a successful car salesman. He had been owner of Joe's Tire Shop in Leeds for many years.
A brother, Michael Hancock preceded him in death.
