Gilberto Casanova Sr., age 54, of Adrian, passed away on March 8, 2017, at his home. He was born on Oct. 16, 1962, in Adrian to Gregorio and Guadalupe (Ramonez) Casanova Sr. Gilbert was a graduate of Adrian High School in 1980. He worked for the University of Michigan Event Staff for nine years and Adrian College catering services. Gilbert loved fishing, Tejano music, Michigan football, Detroit Tigers and Lions. His sense of humor would always put a smile on everyone's face. Most of all, Gilbert enjoyed traveling to California and Texas and spending time with his family and friends.
Gilbert is survived by his three sons, Gilbert (Monica), Carlos, and Lorenzo Casanova; one daughter, Cynthia Casanova and one stepdaughter, Adriana Rivera; wife, Andrea (Ramos) Casanova; five brothers, Pablo Casanova, Jose Casanova Sr., Gregorio Casanova Jr., Guadalupe Casanova, and Juan Casanova Sr.; two sisters, Margarita and Theresa Casanova; four grandchildren, Gabriel, Maya, and Elena Casanova and Olivia English and one step-granddaughter, Giuliana Alvarado. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio Casanova and Guadalupe Casanova Sr; sister, Alvina Casanova; two infant sons; one infant daughter; and two great nieces.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Anderson Funeral Home, Adrian with a Vigil Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m. and on Monday, March 13, 2017, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Good Counsel Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Good Counsel Church with Father Tom Murphy as celebrant.
