ASHLAND CITY, Tenn. Cheatham County Commission member Stan Anglin, 63, a commissioner for about eight years, died Thursday night in St Thomas Hospital, officials said yesterday... Burial will be at...at Harpeth Hills Cemetety off Highway 100 in Nashville. Anglin, an Ashland City resident, had been an active participant in county affairs for several years, told County Commission Chairman Tom Stuart. He said Anglin served on the county's Ambulance Committee and served as one of the directors of the county's nursing home. "He was a man that did care about his fellow man, the county and the community," said Stuart. "It was a pleasure to work with him these years, and Stan will be sadly missed by the County Commission as well as the committees he has served." Stuart said Anglin was admitted to St Thomas Hospital In Nashville about two weeks ago for respiratory and heart complications. He said Anglin had been ill for several years and on oxygen. Commissioner S.O. Henley said he had known Anglin for several years and always found him interested in "what was going on in the county." "He showed a lot of interest in the county. He was a very good court commission member. He was an independent thinker and he had his own opinions," said Henley. "I thought he was one of the better county court members." Commissioner Marc Coulon said Anglin's death will be a loss to the county and the community. "He was very much concerned about county citizens and anything pertaining to the county. He took his job as commissioner seriously," said Coulon. "He was honest spoke his mind and if he believed In something, he pursued it." County Executive Vernon Knight said Anglln's involvement In the county was more than that of a commissioner. He noted that Anglin was a member of American Legion Post 40, a part-time commissioned deputy for the Cheatham County Sheriffs Department and a supervisor of the county's prisoner work program through the county's Solid Waste Management Service. Survivors include his wife, Marie Anglin; a son, William Stanley Anglin, Springfield; and his father, James Freeman Anglin, Falrview. -- The Tennessean, November 4, 1989.
