Funeral of Suicide May Be Held Here
Relatives Say Samuel H Powers Had Been Despondent Over Continued Ill Health
The funeral of Samuel H Power, former resident of Barton, this county, who ended his life in this city yesterday morning by shooting himself in the right temple with a pistol while crouched behind the river wall on Kelly Boulevard will probably be held here Saturday with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Services are planned for the Stein Chapel. His wife, Mrs Mattie Powers, Baltimore, Md arrived last night. It is stated that Powers had complained in recent months of continued headaches and depression. He is survived by his widow, Mrs Mattie Powers and one daughter, Elva Powers, 104 McMechan St, Baltimore. He also leaves three(sic) sisters: Mrs George of Ridgeley who is a visitor at the George residence in Ridgeley; Mrs W H White, Wier, Kansas and two brothers: Thomas of Wier, Kansas and James Powers, Piedmont, W Va.
