74, of Preble, died Saturday, January 27, at Cortland Regional Medical Center Nursing Facility. Born July 7, 1932, in Preble, he graduated Tully High School in 1950. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War (1952-54) and aformer owner of Edinger Shell gas station in Tully for 15 years. He worked for the Teamsters Local #317 for 20 years and retired from Saunders Concrete Company. He was a member of Cortland Veterans of Foreign Wars #2354 and served as trustee and was a life member of Homer Elks Lodge #2506. He was a member of Tully American Legion, Tully Fire Department, Preble Fire Department and the Knights of Columbus. He served as councilman for the town of Preble and also served as a state Democratic committeeman. He was an avid NASCAR, NY Yankee and SU sports fan and loved being "Poppy" to three wonderful grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, Milo and Mildred (Kehrer) Edinger. Survivors include his wife of 49 years, M. Catherine "Kate" Foley Edinger; one daughter, Monica (Charles) Sherman of Cortland; one son, John (Barbara) Edinger of Cortland; one sister, Freda Ferguson of Syracuse; one brother, Hollis (Rozella) Edinger of Tully; one brother-in-law, Francis Foley of Tully; one sister-in-law, Anne (James) Weeks of Rochester; three grandchildren, Erika, Patrick and Samantha; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
