Thomas Elmer Wharton was the fourth child born to William Henry Wharton and Anna Christina Gregor on May 2, 1945 in Baltimore City, Maryland.

He was named after his Aunt May Wharton's 1st husband, Thomas Smith, and his paternal step-grandfather, Elmer Hess.

He was the dear brother of Ann Teresa Wharton Diniak, Anna Mae Wharton Alex, Jane Augusta Wharton Speake, William Howard Marvin Wharton, Angela Marcella Wharton Schwarztrauber and Joseph Edward Wharton.

Uncle Tom never married and was the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He created dear, wonderful memories for all of us. He understood what it meant to be a little kid and that childhood should be filled with fun and freedom. For those who wanted to learn, he taught us how to fish and hunt. He listened and offered guidance. He was patient, kind, and generous-to a fault. If there was a home improvement project that needed to be accomplished, Uncle Tom was the person to call. He constructed wooden fences, put together swing sets, tinkered with car engines, tilled soil to put in a garden. Anything that was ever needed, Uncle Tom was there for us.

He loved being outdoors~hunting, fishing, gardening, walking. He loved cooking and had every new gadget and cookbook that came on the market. His favorite chef was Justin Wilson and Louisiana Creole cooking. He enjoyed making homemade rootbeer. His best friends were his brothers and brothers-in-law (Bill Diniak, Marty Speake, George "Sonny" Heubeck), and his childhood best friend, Mr. Mike Yucka. He loved watching the the Baltimore Ravens and the Orioles. However, he mourned the loss of the Baltimore Colts.

Uncle Tom always had a special pet or faithful hound. Growing up, he kept pigeons in his backyard. *See attached pictures* ...and he always had a dog. As a young boy, he had 'Tippy' and as an adult, he had black labs...'Dog' aka 'Ralph', and 'Trouble' 'Trouble' was a sweet loving smallish black lab.

He served in Vietnam in the US Infantry, Army,

Later in life, he found companionship with a special friend.

His memory lives on through those who will always remember his kindness and generosity. We miss you, Uncle Tom.
