Eldest dau of Count Zenzendorf Ratlilff & Edna Ester Jones. She married 1st John Mathews and had 1 daughter, Marie Mathews; 2nd Jewel Frank Richards, no children. While married to Frank, she decided one day that she was tired of being married. She bought the farm next to him, she did his clothes, he did her repairs, but they just lived apart.

She is buried next to her only child.

Mai was famous for her pies and was called "The Pie Lady". She was also famous for her outspoken and feisty nature.

When Marie was but 13, Mai applied for and got a job as a stenographer teacher in a business college. She would learn the next days lesson the night before, always staying one lesson ahead of her class. In the 1930 census, Mai is working as a stenographer for an electrical company.

When she was about 80 yrs old, she successfully defended herself in a court case. It made the local paper.

Mai was ahead of her time, she was independent and strong.
