Florence Irene Cox Walters, 97, of 110 Ridgeview Road, Hurt died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at her home.

She was born January 30, 1920 in Evington, a daughter of the late Thomas Cox and Gracie Joyce Carr Cox. She attended Clement Memorial Wesleyan Church and was a retired employee of Burlington Industries. During the 1940's she traveled to San Diego, CA to work in an air craft factory as a Rosie the Riveter.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Walters Newman and her husband Roger of Hurt and Vicki Walters Hoskins and her ex-husband Butch of Graham, NC; two brothers, Franklin Cox and George Cox; four grandchildren, Jenifer Odom and her husband Dean, Kent Hoskins, Chris Newman and his wife Chauncey and Andrea Rice and her husband Chris; and three great grandchild, Hunter Newman, Aleighson Robertson and Laurel Odom.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and Archie Cox; and three sisters, Gracie Thomas Wilmoth, Frances Cox Reynolds and Ruby Cox Perry.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017 by the Rev. David Bayse at Green Lawn Cemetery.
