Zachary "Zack" Evan Hardcastle, age 17, of Pittsburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2007, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, at Riggin-Pillatsch Funeral Home in Carterville with Brother Russ Finley officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home in Carterville.


Memorial contributions can be made to the Future Teacher's Scholarship Fund at Marion High School.

Zachary was born on April 19, 1989, in Evansville, Ind. to Frank A. and Julie (Alstat) Hardcastle.

He is survived by his father, Frank A. Hardcastle of Pittsburg; mother, Julie Hardcastle of Winston- Salem, N.C.; brothers, Nick and Dustin both of Pittsburg; grandparents, Frank and Helen Hardcastle of Carterville and Pam Alstat of Marion; great-grandmothers, Aline Bosworth of Herrin, Viola Alstat of DeSoto, and Doris Boyd of Lexington, Ky.; uncles and aunts, Brad and

Mickey Hardcastle of Vincennes, Ind., Jeff and Jacinta Alstat of Carbondale, Tracy and Dennis Johnson of Herrin, and Jill and Mike Robertson of Carterville; cousins, Jesse Jordan of Herrin, Dimitri Johnson and Haley Johnson, both of Baltimore, Md.

Zack was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Alstat.

He was a senior at Marion High School, where he served as a writer on the school newspaper. After graduation, Zack was going to college to become a history teacher.

He enjoyed playing the bass guitar, music, and flying.

Zack was full of life and will be sadly missed.
