Married - in this county on Tuesday evening the 18th instant, by Rev. Thomas B. Springs, Brackett Estes, Esq. of Dekalb County, to Miss Mary A. Garretson, daughter of Wm. Garretson.

This was a second marriage for Brackett Lott Estes, Sr. as he already had 7 children with his first wife Hannah Melizza Estes nee Newby (Abt 1805-1846) whom he had married 1 Sep 1825 in DeKalb Co., TN.
Mary had four more children. These were:
1. Victoria J. Estes, born 6 Mar 1848 in DeKalb Co., TN, died before 1869 in DeKalb Co., TN
2. Samuel T. Estes, born Apr, 1849 in DeKalb Co., TN, died, it is thought, in August of that same year.
3. Virginia "Gennie" Estes, a twin with Tennessee (next below), born 28 Aug 1851 in DeKalb Co., TN, died 1869 in DeKalb Co., TN. Virginia married George Washington Childress on 3 Oct 1867 in DeKalb Co., TN. One child, Mary Virginia Childress (1869-1898).
4. Tennessee Estes, born 28 Aug 1851 in DeKakb Co., TN, died about 1876 in DeKalb Co., TN. Tennessee married George Washington Childress on 21 Sep 1870 in DeKalb Co., Tennessee.
