Diane was born August 10, 1928, in Pasadena, California, and took great delight in sharing her birth year with the infamous Mickey Mouse! Surviving are her children, Vicki (Alan) Will , Debbie (Bud) Hansen, and Robert (Patty) Krarup Jr. She is survived by her 6 grandchildren, Lisa Will, Lora (Doug) Kaiser, Mindy (Eric) Lomen, Megan (Justin) Prather, Lee (Kathryn) Krarup, and Lane Krarup, and 6 great grandchildren, Douglas Kaiser, Brady and Bryce Prather, Preston, Zoey, and Samantha Krarup, along with nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Olson; her parents; and her sister Donna (Joseph) Ugino, and infant brother.
In the late '60s, Diane was the proud owner of Mr. K's Old Fashioned Ice Cream Parlor, located in the Meadowdale Shopping Center, Carpentersville, Illinois. The juke box, penny candy, and ice cream cones were a hit among many students after school. The ice cream parlor expanded into Mr. K's Catering, where Diane, along with friends and family, catered countless weddings, parties and even Box Lunches served at Soldier Field. This led to Diane publishing her first book entitled "So You Want to be a Caterer", followed by her second book "Two Svenska Flikas". Diane enthusiastically followed her children's participation in the Dundee Scots. For over 20 years, Diane was a member of Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wind Lake, Wisconsin, where she loved to sing in the Senior Choir.
Visitation will be Monday, March 20, 2017, 10-11AM with services beginning at 11AM at Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6321 Heg Park Road, Wind Lake, WI 53185. Burial will follow at Norway Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of floral expressions of sympathy, the family requests memorials be made to: Norway Evangelical Lutheran Church, Senior Choir; or Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, Huntley, IL, FORWARD Building Fund; or JourneyCare Hospice, Barrington, IL. Mealy Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.mealyfuneralhome.com.
