Jeanne Marie (Northrup) Thompson, age 90, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017. She was born April 9, 1929 in Kalamazoo, MI to James and Pauline (Shull) Northrup. She graduated from Hart High School in 1943 and attended the University of Michigan. She married A. Robert Thompson on December 1, 1945. From 1961-1966,Bob and Jeanne owned an Insurance Agency in Hart, MI. She also worked for the Central Michigan University in the admissions department, and was a legal secretary for a law firm in Scottville and a bookkeeper for the Ludington Public Schools. She was a member of Wesley Park United Methodist Church. In her youth, Jeanne enjoyed skiing, boating, traveling, and baking. Her husband, Bob, and son-in-law, Michael Nicholas, preceded her in death. Jeanne will be lovingly remembered by her children, Terry (Janice) Thompson, Kendra Nicholas; grandchildren, Ryan (Missy) Nicholas, Todd (Jennifer) Nicholas, Michael (Jennifer) Thompson, Tara (Mark) Haener; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, LaVone Cook, Louise Glaysher; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 10 - 11 am prior to the service on Saturday, March 11, at Wesley Park United Methodist Church, 1150 32nd St. SW, where the funeral will begin at 11 am. Pastor Dean Prentiss will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Hospice or Wesley Park UMC.
