Irma Trudene Wilson Cox

Mrs. Irma Trudene (Trudy) Cox, 86, passed away on March 11, 2017. She was born in Miller County, Arkansas and spent her childhood in Doddridge, Arkansas. In early adulthood, she and her family moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where she resided for the past 63 years. She worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance from 1968 until her retirement in 1994. Trudy was a member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting at the local nursing homes and helping the sick and less fortunate. She also loved cooking for friends and family and providing for others.

Trudy was preceded in death by her mother and father, Deliah and Frank Wilson and her two brothers, Dale Wilson and James Wilson. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Patricia Ann Essary and Vickie Lou Cox; two grand-daughters, Patricia Diane Lanier and Victoria Christine Zirlott; four great-grand children, Christopher Matthew Davis, Kirsten Renee Sanders, Miranda Elizabeth Johnson and Terri Angelique Zirlott; her sister, Joyce Fitzgerald; her very special friend, Donald Jones and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Haynes Avenue Baptist Church and the members, for their long-lasting love and support. They would also like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of Trudy’s caregivers and her many friends.

It was Trudy’s wish that her body be donated to LSU School of Medicine for teaching and research purposes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to the charity of your choice.
