James L. Flecker, 69, of Wenona, Illinois, passed away peacefully Sunday (March 12, 2017) at his home.

Jim was born Nov. 22, 1947 in Dwight, Illinois to Fritz and Orlene Dougherty Flecker. He married Carol Arrowsmith on July 21, 1973 in Minonk, Illinois.

Jim is survived by his wife; daughter, Kristy Flecker Harvick; son, John Flecker; two grandchildren; sister, Shirley (Larry) Rheinschmidt; three nieces and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bob.

He served in the U.S. Army where he fought during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972.

Before joining the service, Jim helped his father run the Phillips 66 gas station in Wenona. After service, he worked at Sundstrand in LaSalle, and then retired from LTV Steel.

After retirement, to keep his mind and body busy, he delivered The Pantagraph newspapers. He took pride and joy to make sure the people on his route had their paper no matter what the weather. Jim was a member of Wenona American Legion 8 and Veterans of Foreign Wars. In his spare time, he loved to sit and fish.
