He was born March 10, 1934, in Peoria, Illinois the son of Raymond G. and Lillian Terrenski McIntire, Sr. He married JoAnn Frericks on September 20, 1956, in Peoria, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife of 60 years, JoAnn, of Galesburg; his son, Raymond G. McIntire, III of Springfield, Tennessee; three daughters, Cindy (Jay) Stone of Savannah, Georgia, Lisa Montgomery, and Sue Ann McIntire both of Galesburg; two brothers, Jack (Nancy) McIntire of Peoria and Ralph McIntire of South Bend, Indiana; three sisters, Beverly (Jim) Bridges of Peoria, Doris (Norman) Trompeter of Sioux City, Iowa and Peggy McIntire of Metamora, Illinois; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis, and one sister, Verna Wozniak.
Raymond served in the US Marines from 1952-1955 during the Korean War as SSgt.
He worked for Bemis Company in Peoria for over 20 years and later for Bancroft in Louisiana. He owned and operated L & M Plastics and later Swedoughs. Raymond was an original partner of the Galesburg Citizen Band. He was raised in Peoria and lived in Vermont and Louisiana before moving to Galesburg in 1969. He graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1952 and Bradley University in 1959 with a Bachelors in Science. Raymond was a member and had also served on the board of directors of the Prairie Council of Boy Scouts for over 20 years.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 am Saturday, March 18, 2017, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Deacon Michael Crummer officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery with military honors by VFW 2257/Legion 285 Veterans Honor Guard.
