Wanda Cleora Barnes
Wanda Cleora Barnes, 90, went to heaven peacefully in her sleep on March 8th, 2017 at AarenBrooke Place in Boise, Idaho.
Wanda was born November 24th, 1926 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Clarence and Viola Vaughn Jenkins. The oldest of 8 children, Wanda carried many responsibilities, especially after her mother passed away while Wanda was still in her teens. Lovely and quiet Wanda met charismatic Fay while working at Woolworths Department Store. They married on September 8th, 1947 in Washoe County, Nevada. They raised four children for most of their lives in the Treasure Valley. Fay and Wanda and their children enjoyed many camping adventures at Mountain View Campground in Lowman, Idaho, and had an annual tradition of spending Memorial Day weekends with extended family at Horsethief Reservoir. Wanda enriched the lives of her family with wonderful home cooked meals, talented sewing, and incredible artistic talents. She sewed and crocheted in abundance, creating many of her own clothes as well as clothes for her daughters and clothes for their dolls. She took many art classes in her adult life, including oil painting classes in California and a watercolor class at Boise Junior College. She painted and drew a vast array of subjects throughout her life, including her children and many scenes of nature, flowers and birds. Wanda passed her love of art and beauty on to her children and grandchildren. Her grandchildren enjoyed her passion for art with her through a large collection of coloring books and an old coffee can full of crayons. Today many of her descendants love painting, photography, flowers and nature. Though a woman of few words, Wanda readily shared her fascinating life memories with those who asked. Her family will always carry her stories and wonderful memories of her with them.
Wanda is survived by children David and Kim Barnes of Kuna, Kathleen and Matt Hightree of Boise, Linda and Michael Seefeldt of Stanfield, Oregon, six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, brothers Foy Jenkins of Boise and Dean (Dot) Jenkins of Fruitland, and sister Bonnie (Merrill) Marshall of Caldwell. She was preceded in death by husband Fay, daughter Carolyn, parents Clarence and Viola, brothers David and Don, sisters Irma and Bea and great grand-daughter Alexis.

Services will be held on Friday, March 17th at 11 a.m. at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, 10100 N Horseshoe Bend Road, Boise, Idaho.
