I've been at work on our family tree since 1984 when about the only other family members who were researching the family was Hilda Barnette and Letha Jones Thompson.
At present Stephen and Nancy (Unknown) Smith have about 3929 confirmed descendants. DNA tests have been done both Y DNA and autosomal and have confirmed kinship of lines of Isaac's brother William S. Smith, along with many of Isaac and Rachel's kids. But we haven't broken through the brick wall along with about a dozen other families who have the same Y chromosome. 4/22/2017
A cousin said when he was a child his mother Genary Margibell Smith Doss would take him to Berryhill Cemetery for grave decoration day. She told him Stephen Smith was buried there marked only by a rock (which is now gone). He distinctly remembers seeing the grave rock and knows that it was lost when the cemetery expanded and cleared the perimeter.3/14/2017
