Fort Worth — Teresa Wingo May,63, departed from this life and stepped into the Father's embrace on March 10th, 2017. She was gently cared for and greatly loved by her husband the last 5 years.

Visitation: will be held at six o'clock on Wednesday, March 15, 2017, and with services on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home, 12301 South Freeway, Ft. Worth, TX 76134. Burial: Caddo Cemetery in Joshua.

Teresa was gifted to this world on December 22, 1953, in Longview, Texas. Her ultimate love was her family. She attended White Oak High School, where she fell in love with music through the marching band and became a talented flutist. Her Love of music was passed down to her eldest 2 sons, Chris Garrett and Bruce Sapp Jr. It was a rare but amazing blessing to hear them sing and play together at family gatherings.

In January 1982, in Fort Worth, TX, she met a young handsome man named, Joseph May, Jr. and 3 years later on August 24th, 1986, they married and remained in love for 31 years.

Her life consisted of taking care of her family, cooking and baking, always from "scratch" and volunteering at her children's school. Teresa's career life included working as a customer service representative for various companies including Radio Shack Corporation and as a store manager at Tandy Leather Company, and a leather crafter/merchandising assistant at Hide Crafters.

The Love for family was displayed in the sacrifices she made for them. Teresa was a Den Leader for Her boys, Boy Scout troop, a score keeper and concession stand worker for the baseball association in Joshua, TX. She provided gentle and loving care to her Grand-mother, Mary Lucille Cheney and her Father-in law, Joseph May Sr., until their passing. Affectionately known as "Grandmama" by her grandchildren, she was a great help to her daughter, Tina Sapp, in providing affectionate care to Kye, Kaleb and Tori during some difficult times, including Leukemia diagnosis and treatment of Kye.

Shortly after Kye's diagnosis, Teresa began her battle against Breast Cancer. With her husband by her side, she defeated and survived that battle, wounded, but stronger and more loving than ever. She was greatly admired and loved. To her children she became the most loving mother they could ask for and to her grandchildren, she was the apple of their eye. She will be greatly missed and remembered lovingly by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather and grandmother, John and Lucille Cheney, Uncles William, Russell and John Cheney, and her best friend/youngest sister, Marina Dawn Wingo Kisner.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph May Jr., Fort Worth; parents, Floyd and Alice Wingo, White Oak,TX, three sons, Christopher (Amanda) Garrett, Van, TX, Bruce Sapp Jr., Jonathan (Laurie) Sapp and daughter, Tina Sapp, all of Fort Worth, TX. Grandchildren: Katie and Amerie Shaye Garrett, Jonathan Sapp Jr., Klevor Noah Simpson, and Kye, Kaleb and Victoria Sapp. Many nieces, nephews and extended family in Texas and North Carolina. Surviving sisters, Teresa Ann Baker and Sharon Shaffer and brothers, Shannon (Brenda) Wingo, Davis (Karen) Wingo, Johnny Wingo, Floyd Jr. (Karon) Wingo and Alvin (Amy) Wingo.

With great appreciation to Donny Sapp, former Pastor of Texas Cowboy Worship Center for officiating the service.

Also, deep gratitude to the pallbearers and loving family: Bruce Sapp, Jr., Jonathan Sapp Sr., Noah Simpson, Jason May, Benny Colbert and Charlie Smith.
