Dessie Mae Marlowe Lawing, age 96, of Marion, N.C. died Sunday February 5, 2006 at Sunrise Rehab & Care Center in Nebo, N.C.
Born in McDowell County, N.C. to the late Thomas Lee Marlowe & Dorothy Haynes Marlowe, she worked as a School Teacher in McDowell County Schools for 34 years.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Ennis Roy Lawing.

Surviving are one daughter Lucy Browning and husband Max of Glenwood; one step-daughter Edna Blankenship of Kingsport, TN; one step-son Clyde Lawing and wife Elva of Archdale, NC; one brother Tom Marlowe of Marion; two sisters, Rebecca Bristol of Marion & Dorothy Norton of Glenwood; five grandchildren; great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2:00 o'clock pm Tuesday February 7, 2006 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion with the Rev. Jim Brewer officiating.
Burial followed at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials of one's choice or Marion Lions Club or Glenwood Baptist Church Building Fund.
