Vernon Eugene "Gene" Robertson Mansfield, Missouri
Vernon Eugene Robertson, 89 years, 10 months, 24 days old, passed away after a brief illness on February 14, 2017 at the Autumn Oaks Caring Center, Mtn. Grove, MO.
Gene was born March 20, 1927 in Ava, MO to Chester Grant Robertson and Rosie (Ludwig) Robertson.
Gene was a retired machinist for an aircraft manufacturing company in Kansas City, MO. He had worked there for over 33 years. Gene & Lorene spent many weekends traveling from Kansas City to Mansfield while building their retirement home.
Gene and Lorene Riley were united in marriage January 16, 1947 at Mtn. Home, AR. They celebrated 69 years of marriage before Lorene’s passing in 2016. To this union four children were born.
Gene enjoyed bluegrass music and square dancing. He loved collecting and restoring MOPAR antique automobiles. He delighted in showing his cars for local parades and won many trophies.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Lorene, a daughter, Maureen Gail Tiedeman, son-in-law, Max Tiedeman, and daughter-in-law, Deborah Robertson.
Gene is survived by three children, Patsy Stover, Mansfield, MO, Rob (Shana) Robertson, Nixa, MO, and Kevin (Dana) Robertson, Adrian, MO, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one sister, Norene DeGase, Mansfield, MO, many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Gene will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Fannon Cemetery. Visitation will be Sat. the 18th at 9:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. R.E. Helsley. Family requests memorials to be made to Fannon Cemetery.
