Joe Landers Watson, 86, of Memphis passed away peacefully on March 12, 2017. Mr. Watson is survived by his daughter, Jean Phebus (Jay) and his sons Patrick Watson and Martin Watson, as well as, his granddaughter Raven Watson and his grandsons, Daniel, Chris, and John Phebus. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Claire McDermott Watson and his brother Bill P. Watson. Joe grew up in Memphis. He graduated from Bartlett High School and Memphis State University. After serving in the Navy during the Korean War, he studied architecture at Georgia Tech. Joe was a partner at Awsumb Wage and Watson and retired from the City of Memphis's Division of Engineering. "Grandpa" enjoyed watching his grandchildren playing sports, admiring art and sharing his love with his family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to The Baddour Center: P.O. Box 97, Senatobia, MS 38668; Richland Elementary Education Fund: 5440 Rich Road, Memphis 38120; or Methodist Hospice Residence: 6416 Quince Road, Memphis 38119. Memorial service for family and friends on Tuesday, March 14 at Family Funeral Care, 4929 Summer Avenue.
