Maria Mary Magoulas Magoulas-Perkins
MARCH 19, 1957 – MARCH 4, 2017

Maria Magoulas-Perkins, 59, passed away on Saturday, 4 March, after an almost two year battle with colon cancer. Maria was born in Beirut, Lebanon, where she attended the Greek School of Beirut. Her family moved to the island of Chios in Greece in 1967. Maria and her family immigrated to Annapolis, Maryland in 1971, where she attended St. Mary's High School. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a master's degree in French Language and Literature. Maria served in various leadership positions both in the public and private sector including a distinguished career of over 25 years with the federal government. A lover of languages, cooking, gardening, her kitties, and Halloween, Maria is remembered for her boundless energy and compassion, and love for her friends and family. She was equally as proud of her Greek heritage as she was of her American citizenship and identity. Maria is survived by her two children, Sophia Perkins and Logan Perkins, her ex-husband Butler Perkins, her brother Argyris Magoulas, her sister Markella Magoulas, and her loving mother, Sophia Magoulas (who passed away four days later on March 8). She will be missed by many, especially her nephews, whom she adored as her own children—Kosta, Julian, Yanni and Jack.

Friends and family may call at the John M. Taylor Funeral Home, Inc. 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Saturday March 18th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM, where her memorial service will be held Sunday March 19th at 12 noon in the Taylor Chapel.
