Her family moved to Summerville in 1941. She graduated from Summerville High School and was a graduate of the Roper Hospital School of nursing in 1952 as an RN where she maintained lifelong friends. Mrs. Simmons was an avid reader. She enjoyed taking care of her family. She dedicated her life to be a full time homemaker and neighborhood nurse. She was a faithful member of Summerville Baptist Church.
