Curtis Randolph Cox Sr., 90, of Evington, died Sunday, March 12, 2017, at The Summit Health and Rehab. He was the husband of Irene West Cox for nearly 70 years. He was born April 5, 1926, in Evington, a son of the late Rucker Cox and Carrie Witt Cox. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Evington, a retired employee of the Campbell County School System and a United States Army World War II veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Curtis R. Cox Jr. and his wife, Peggy, of Evington and Steven Wayne Cox and his wife, Karen, of Evington; one daughter, Rebecca Ann Witt and her husband, Johnny, of Evington; two brothers, Clyde Cox of Evington and Alfred "Buck" Cox of Petersburg; two sisters, Naomi Coates of Gladys and Henrietta Cox of Evington; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a special friend, Dave Place; and a canine companion, Abby. He was preceded in death by one sister, Inez Little. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at First Baptist Church of Evington by the Rev. David Place with interment to follow in the church cemetery with military honors by American Legion Altavista Memorial Post 36 and Gretna Post 232. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Monday, March 13, 2017,at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence of Steven and Karen Cox, 188 Kent Road, Evington.
