The remains of Mrs. Clara Fox, of Detroit, were brought here Monday evening by her son Lloyd, for burial. When the word was received here that Mrs. Fox had passed away, it was a surprise to all of her friends as it was not known she was ill. She died at 3:45 PM Saturday, March 26th, 1921, at Samaritan Hospital after a 24 hour day sickness with bronchial pneumonia which followed other serious complications.
Clara E. Nichols was born in Columbia Township, on what is now the Will Eckfeld farm, April 21, 1873. She attended the Unionville school and resided in this locality all of her life until moving to Detroit two and a half years ago.
She was married to Roswell Fox, October 12, 1896 and to them was born one son, Lloyd A. She resided on a farm at Hickory Island until moving to Unionville, about 9 years ago. She is a member of the Hickory Island M. P. Church. After going to Detroit, she selected First Baptist Church as her place of worship. For 6 years, she was in business here conducting a bakery and restaurant and ice cream parlor.
She is survived by one sister Mrs. Chas Ellenwood of Lakeview, MI and two brothers, F. T. Nichols of Middletown, Ohio.
The funeral took place Tuesday at 1:00 at the undertaking rooms and at 2:00 at the Hickory Island Church. Rev. Waite, officiating. L. D. Sees, undertaker. The pall bearers were Messrs. George Winters, Elmer Moore, Chas. Hinson, Chas. Jesse Hovey and Eugene Ackerman. Burial in Hickory Island cemetery.
